- I have some that are between 5 and 7 right now. I think ten isn't
- unreasonable, but I don't have my canary books handy offhand.

- > 2) He is PURE red in colour now , will He stay that way for a Long time?
-
- Red factors get that way because they're fed a red dye during moult. If you
- don't, they'll lose a lot of their redness and go orange. Personally, I
- don't keep red factors because of this, preferring birds in their natural
- coloration. I've also seen canaries that are very hesitant to drink when the
- additives are in the water, so it evidently tastes terrible.
-
- You might try letting the guy go natural on his next moult. If you like what
- you get, then let him stay that way. If not, next moult, feed him the dyes
- and turn him red again.

-
- No. In fact, you normally keep your males and females separate unless
- they're actively breeding because one will normally beat up on the other.
- Don't buy females unless you decide to start breeding. Don't start breeding
- until you know what you're getting into.

- Shouldn't.
