- Naked means unprotected.

- You can write "naked call" options on a stock, which means that you're
- selling someone the right to buy a stock from you, at a certain price,
- when in fact you don't own the stock, so you are unprotected. If you
- own the stock you are writing "covered calls." The term is "naked
- options," not "nude options."

- A model is "nude," and you are "nude" on a beach, because protection is
- not an issue. You are certainly "naked" if you're not wearing clothes
- outdoors in freezing weather. And in other situations, I guess the
- five-letter word is more common than the more polite four-letter word.
