- Perhaps if it were a Nakamichi deck and a *really* bad changer.

- If I were putting a budget system together, I'd still take
- an inexpensive changer like the Sony CDP-C225 ($240 list, ~$200 retail)
- and stick the extra $300 towards the speakers.

- If I could only choose from one ~$500 component, I'd take the
- Denon DCM-520 (list $500, retail ~$450), which would beat the snot out
- of *any* $500 cassette deck.

- Keep in mind that the CD medium won't degrade like the cassette
- will, and is generally a more hassle-free medium. (Jump to any track
- immediately, no fussy azimuth adjustment problems, etc.)
