- An osteopath is a physician who is taught bone manipulation as a
- method of therapy. This manipulation is similar to chiropractic except
- that osteopaths do not limit themselves to spinal manipulation.
- Osteopaths also study the regular allopathic curriculum and most
- practice solely as allopathic physicians and do not perform
- manipulation even though they are taught it. A good summary of the
- different types of alternative medicine can be found in Andrew Weil's
- book "Health and Healing".
