- (Part Two:)
-
- Now that you know what the approximate number of bodyfat poundage is; take
- and multiple your target bodyfat percentage by your current weight.
-
- Example: 190 X 7% = 13 + 3 = 16
- 210 X 7% = 14 + 3 = 17
- 160 X 7% = 11 + 3 = 14
- 175 X 7% = 12 + 3 = 15
-
- Now, minus the target number from your current number and you will have the
- number of pounds that you need to reduce to attain your desired goal.
-
- Example: 190 X 18% (current) = 34 + 3 = 37 (current)
- 190 X 7% (goal) = 13 + 3 + 16 (target)
- Minus 16 from 37 and you get 21. You will need to drop
- 21 pounds to attain a bodyfat percentage of 7%. I hope
- all of this is clear.
-
- One pound of fat is approximately 3200 calories. 21 pounds of fat equals
- approximately 67,200 calories. You will need to reduce your current body
- size by approximately 67,200 calories to have a 7% bodyfat rating. I am
- converting everything into calories so that everything then becomes a
- mathematical equation. As long as you stick to the mathematics, your goal
- will be realized. And, you can figure in snacks as well. And don't worry
- about your life becoming a numbers game. Keep in mind everything so far
- is an approximation which leaves room for experimentation and for differ-
- entiation so as to fight boredom and the inevitable mental games.
-
- To be succesful at any endeavor, you must have clearly defined goals with as
- clearly defined methods for attaining those goals as are possible. To lose weight,
- you have to reduce the overall food intack below the overall food burned, or else
- no weight is reduced. By looking at the total number of calories that need to be
- burned - 67,200, you know the approx. size of the job before you.
-
- Assuming you are between the age of 18 and 35, most experts believe that the
- number of calories burned by people among this age group is between 1800-1900
- calories per day as a Base Metabolic Rate. Also, most people in that same group
- on average exercise little and eat about 1900-2200 calories each day. Which of
- course makes for a calorie excess on the daily level of between 100-300 calories.
- Since there are approx. 3200 calories per pound, and since the average person eats
- in excess 200 calories per day, it takes about 16-17 days to gain one pound of
- excess bodyfat. These numbers are very conservative. Just imagine why the holiday
- over-eating season is especially bad when you figure in all those extra calories.
- Is it any wonder that people can gain in excess of five or more pounds between
- T-day, Xmas, and New Years Eve.
