- Well, I haven't used MPII, but I have used SmartComm and can
- recommend it. It's small and fast, works flawlessly on my PB170, and
- (speaking quite subjectively) doesn't seem to suffer from the
- lingering flakiness that afflicts most of the more "feature-ridden"
- packages. Whether or not it's for you will depend on whether you need
- a sophisticated scripting facility or exotic doodads like >24 lines on
- your VT100 display (which I don't _need_, but sure would like).

- As far as modems go (you're talking _religion_ here, so you want
- to be careful)...I've got two Practical Peripherals 14400FXSA modems
- which I like a lot. They're cheap, warrantied for life, and perform
- very well under less-than-ideal circumstances.
