  13. I will be uploading another batch of .669 music files to 
  14. klingon.epas.utoronto.ca (128.100.160.36).  This music format 
  15. was created by Tran of Renaissance.  You can think of .669 
  16. files as enhanced .mod files because they offer 8 channels, 64 
  17. instruments and 128 patterns, among other improvements.  Here 
  18. are the requirements as stated in the documentation of the 669 
  19. composer:

  23.   To run this composer you must have the following hardware:
  24.     1) A 386 or better computer.
  25.     2) 2 megz RAM. (1408k extended).
  26.     3) A VGA card.
  27.     4) A Sound Blaster or a Sound Blaster Pro sound card. (On 
  28.        an SB you will get mono music, on an SBPro you will get 
  29.        stereo).
  30.     5) DOS 3.0 or above.

  32.   When you run this composer, you must not have any memory 
  33. managers or any other programs that run the system in V86 mode, 
  34. and you must not have DOS loaded high. The best configuration 
  35. would be a clean system, but you can experiment to see what 
  36. TSRs and device drivers you can have in memory. Note: Your SB 
  37. or SBP must be on IRQ 3,5, or 7... IRQs 2 and 10 are not 
  38. supported.

  42. You can also play .669 files on a Gravis UltraSound with the 
  43. P669GU0.ARJ player which can also be found on the same ftp 
  44. site.  These files will probably sound best on a Gravis 
  45. UltraSound.  1MB of RAM on the UltraSound is recommended.  I'm 
  46. not sure but I think all that is required for the GUS version 
  47. of the player is a GUS, a 386 or better and DOS 3.0 or 
  48. better.  I doubt you'll even need a VGA card because the only 
  49. plain text is displayed.

  58. READ669.TXT contains the filenames of the first batch of .669 
  59. files I uploaded.  This is because I didn't feel like making 
  60. a .TXT file for everyone of the .669 files I uploaded.  
  61. However, from now on I will do so to make them more 
  62. recognizable.

  64. Oh well, it's going to take forever to upload them at 2400 
  65. bps but I'm going to do it anyway to help out all the GUS 
  66. owners out there.  This batch contains most of the best 
  67. sounding ones.  I urge users who have other .669 files to 
  68. upload them to epas as well.
