- With all the talk about 1.44 meg floppies on Mega STE/TTs using TOS
- 2.05/3.05 and the WD1772 chip, I decided to see if my Mega STE would
- read/write 1.44M floppies. Earlier I had posted to find out whether
- the disk drive was a 1.44M one and thanks to someones reply, I found
- out it was. My dealer had showed me where to install the AJAX chip
- should I decide to upgrade to 1.44M.
-
- I inserted a 1.44M floppy from a PC and it worked! So now my questions
- are:
- 1) Is the WD1772 reliable for 1.44M disks?
- 2) Does TOS 2.05 know how to format 1.44M disks?
- 3) If the desktop does not know how to format 1.44M disks, can the
- XBIOS format routine in TOS 2.05 format 1.44M disks?
- 4) I know there is a DIP switch somewhere that has something to do
- with 1.44M floppies. What does it do?
-
- Thanks in advance!
