  37. I'm not surprised that critics hated the ending.  I think if this was
  38. a typical hollywood ending, it would have been a more cynical ending.
  39. The kid would have still been a cripple, and there would be no such
  40. thing as the "Genuine article" as Steve puts it.  I liked the ending
  41. a charltan who can't compete with the real thing skips town.  The
  42. other ending they could have come up with is Steve "converting".

  44. Yes, I thought Steve was great, but I bet since, they don't know what
  45. to think of this movie and religion makes people uncomfortable, that
  46. he will get by passed. (For shame).

  48. Debra and Liam were great.  Liam could use a few more roles like this.
  49. It was also nice to see "Meat Loaf" again, in the minor role as driver,
  50. keyboardist.

  52. Also, for those who says it attacks religion either did not see the movie
  53. or did not see the same movie we saw.  Yes, there are con men who use
  54. "name of the Lord" for a quick buck.  But I don't think that it implies
  55. that all tent preachers are con men.  Thats generalizing, which gets
  56. folks into all sorts of trouble :) :)
