- -> Any advice on squeezing a Chevy 409 into a 1980 Turbo Trans Am,
- -> and/or tips on getting the best performance out of it?
-
- The 409 is a heavy pig. The chamber shape sucks. No aftermarket
- manifolds are available, though you might get Isky to grind you a cam.
- It will not bolt up to your transmission. You will have to fabricate
- mounts.
-
- Since you already have Pontiac motor mounts and transmission, why not
- swap in a 400 Pontiac? They're dirt cheap, come standard with screw in
- studs, guide plates, and windage tray, and you can get parts practically
- anywhere.
