-
- The Honorable Barbara Boxer US House of Representatives
- Washington, DC 20515
-
- Dear Congresswoman Boxer:
-
- We write to request your immediate action in support of the
- Western Shoshone nation in Nevada, who are currently resisting a
- round-up of their livestock by the US Bureau of Land Management
- (BLM) and the subsequent occupation of their land by the BLM.
-
- We ask that you demand that the BLM and US government recognize
- their land rights guaranteed by the Treaty of Ruby Valley signed
- by the US in 1863, participate in direct and meaningful
- negotiations with the Western Shoshone National Council, and cease
- the round-up of Western Shoshone livestock.
-
- [here add anything about your particular concern on the situation,
- or if you are writing for an organization, discuss your
- constituency/membership to give your letter leverage]
-
- Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
-
- Sincerely,
-

- represenative and senators (they have a responsibility to their
- constituents) and select any additional names you have time to
- do. Please see attached example letter - please note this letter
- was drafted to a member of Congress, a slightly different letter
- would be needed for the Bureau of Land Management or the UN.
-
- (The following list was compiled from information already on
- Peacenet and a letter from the American Indian Movement; if you
- subscribe to Peacent, you can access fax numbers for members of
- congress and other members of the US government through a Peacenet
