- Balkans Peace Vigil
-
- The Balkans Peace Vigil taking place between 2 & 8pm,
- on Dec 21st at St Martins in the Field has been organised
- by the Balkans Working Group of the National Peace
- Council.
-
- Most of us are appalled not only by TV images of the
- carnage but also by the prospect that 2.5 million innocent
- Bosnians could starve this winter.
-
- We call for:
-
- More humanitarian aid to save lives and halt
- starvation.
-
- The establishment of UN protected safe havens where
- war refugees can escape the horrors of war and find food
- and shelter. These havens should be close by to allow
- people to return home and rebuild their lives. Supporting
- the right of refugees to return home is fundamental. To do
- otherwise is to accept the insane logic of "ethnic cleansing" and
- genocide.
-
- The British Government to allow refugees to enter
- Britain. Europe is refusing to face up to the sheer scale of
- the refugee crisis. Providing temporary respite in this
- country is a practical and humanitarian step to ease the
- suffering.
-
- What you can do.
-
-
- Donate today to the Medicines for Bosnia Project.
-
- Buy a pair of Safe Haven Post Cards to lobby both the UN
- and the Prime Minister. Public opinion does move politicians
- and leaders.
-
- Across Europe organisations are working together to collect
- signatures appealing for a pan European solution to this tragic
- conflict. Ask us for the Lights for the People of Bosnia Letter.
-
- You can send your own message to;
- Together we can make a difference.
