  18. As I understand this, after discussions in other groups, and from experience
  19. this is because the vendors want a couple of things:

  21. They say that there is much software pirating in South America, and in 
  22. Russia. So they force this upon us Europeans and you North Americans.

  25. They want you to buy somebody elses product, because you don't have the 
  26. time or money to waste on dealing with exactly what you descibed.

  30. If, for example SUN, were serious about this, the licence manager would
  31. be included in the system, and for FREE. So every vendor didn't include
  32. thei own licence manager, a little bit different than the other. And as
  33. for the one SUN uses, it has a smallest timeframe for how long you allocate
  34. a license, which is 15 or 30 minutes. Just so you need to buy double the
  35. amount of licenses you really need. Who has a compile that take 15 minutes ?
  36. SUN and the others for that has to get their act together soon, or else we
  37. all vill be running VMS on Alphas soon. At least VMS works, and has the
  38. basic tools needed included. And it even works in clusters.
