- It appears that the FAQ should be updated. The information under the
- listing "*** Subject: P2. How do I connect a modem to the NeXT?" is
- essentially correct, but I suggest the following ammendment:
-
- Under Release 3.0 of NeXTSTEP, the 'zs' man page (type 'man zs' in
- a terminal window) and Appendix B of _NeXTSTEP Network and System
- Administration_ (available online using Digital Librarian or in printed
- form) each contain detailed information from NeXT about connecting modems
- to NeXTs. These documents include descriptions of how to make cables to
- connect '030 and '040 NeXTs to various serial devices including modems.
- These documents also state that the serial ports of '030 NeXTs are
- identical to Macintosh serial ports, while the serial ports of '040 NeXTs
- are NOT. The ports of '040 NeXTs, however, ARE COMPATIBLE with the '030
- serial ports, the Macintosh serial ports, and all '030 NeXT and Macintosh
- serial port peripherals if the proper adapter cable is constructed.
