- DiskDoctor is a fix-in-place program, like CHKDSK. It tries to fix what's
- on your hard disk, but it's very primitive. C= removed it from the 2.1
- distribution, since it tends to be unreliable.
-
- DiskSalv 1.42, the last public release of my shareware disk fixing program,
- does what you describe -- it salvages anything it can from a disk to some
- other Amiga volume. It works on any kind of device-driven Amiga disk under
- OFS or FFS, though it's impractical on very large hard disks. A new version
- that does fix-in-place will be out some time in January if all goes well.

-
- You really do if something is very wrong. CHKDSK knows how to make a disk
- partition usable, but it can't necessarily recover lost data very well.
- In some cases, you're more concerned with validating your disk and that's all
- you want. In other cases, you're after something that was lost in the
- processor of your disk getting scrogged.
