-
- Conference background
- ---------------------
-
- The conference will be of interest to anyone whose lifestyles
- include moderate to heavy use of a computer.
-
- The two-day conference features industry experts addressing ergonomics,
- enabling technologies, and User I/O device compatibility issues. Sun
- spokespeople will demonstrate Sun's commitment and leadership role by
- discussing internal strategy and direction in these areas. The keynote
- address will be delivered by Douglas Engelbart, Ph.D, inventor of the mouse.
-
- The recent passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), along with
- high costs associated with repetitive strain injuries (such as productivity
- loss and increased worker's compensation claims) are requiring both the
- government and industry to address these issues.
-
- The ADA legislation is an important business opportunity since employers
- and government are among those who must take immediate steps to comply
- with this legislation.
-
- The conference will feature presentations and onsite demonstrations
- of office equipment and computer devices for accessible and ergonomically
- correct environments. The importance of correct ergonomic work habits
- will also be discussed. Featured devices will include trackballs,
- alternative "mice" and keyboards, 3-D input devices and digitizing tablets.
-
