- One of my PC-NFS users here is having a problem printing directly to a
- redirected printer port. The situation is that we have a Postscript
- printer ( Apple Laserwriter ) which is spooled to from one of our Sun Unix
- boxes. The user has redirected lpt2: to this printer and is trying to send
- directly to this printer from within an application he has written.
-
- If he prints to a file instead of to lpt2: we get a file of 3542 bytes. If
- he prints to lpt2: and I intercept the file before it gets printed we only
- see 1920 bytes (approx). A diff on the file reveals that the file is not
- truncated but that there are groups of lines missing through out the file.
-
- If he net prints the file everything works.
-
- I tried the following:-
-
- copy xxx.ps u:
- file appears intact
-
- copy xxx.ps lpt2:
- Lost data, file size approx 3100 bytes.
-
- Printing directly to lpt2: from within application
- Lost data, file size now only approx 1100 bytes
-
- Has anybody seen this before? What should I be looking for?
-
- It seems like the print redirector is dropping data because net print works
- and I would expect net print to use the same code as prt.
-
- Any comments welcome. Thanks.
