- And this I simply deny. An intelligent being can be held responsible
- for the consequences of any of its actions if it could have reasonably
- foreseen those consequences. Where is the relevance of determinism?

- Determinism as applied to us does not mean that some outside force
- makes us do things; it means that it is our nature to act in certain
- ways. Only the application of an outside force relieves us of
- responsibility for our actions.
