- Well, the worst fall (doesn't qualify as a wipeout) I had was
- a couple years back down at Taos.
-
- My friend Jim and I were on the first run of the day, and he
- said "I know this great run". Well it turned out to be Longhorn,
- a steep mogul run with a sprinkling of trees in the slope. I
- had my randonee skis, because we were going to do some backcountry
- the next day. I made my first turn and my outside binding released
- and I fell over downhill. I was wearing one of those slick gortex
- jackets.
-
- I started sliding on my back, head first, and I was accelerating
- very quickly.
-
- Those trees that were sprinkled throughout the slope immediatly
- came to mind, did I mention that I was accelterating quickly.
-
- No matter how hard I tried the only thing I got to see the whole
- time was the sky flying past me.
-
- One ski was still attached which prevented my from rolling over
- onto my stomach, did I mention that I was still accelerating
- very quickly.
-
- My life started flashing in front of my eyes, did I mention that
- I was still accelerating quickly.
-
- Well I missed all the trees, and ended up sliding about 100 yards.
- I was completly sapped of all and any energy I had. My entire body
- was shaking for at least an hour. I spent the rest of the day on
- some easy blue squares.
