- I have a few friends who now own lithium based cameras such as
- the N6006 and the Eos ELAN. As lithium batteries are expensive, they now
- resort to replacing the power supply with a home-made connection to AA
- batteries. Technically it works. 4 AA batteries are connected through wire
- to the camera. While it may not look good as a whole, the 'concoction' does
- nevertheless work.
-
- My question is, is it safe and viable to do so? Technically, 6 volts
- are generated to power the camera. While one would not get long shelf life
- and strong resistance to cold, but in return, AA batteries are extremely cheap.
- My friends have not had any problems with their pictures so far. This is mainly
- because it's all in print film. The thing is, if print film is what you shoot
- most of the time, the AA alternative might not be such a bad idea after all.
