  13. No really this is not an assign the blame hand:-) Contrary to what the
  14. bidding may indicate the rest of the players at the table were very
  15. good -- this was just a late 2am impromptu IMP game played after our
  16. weekly club game.  Anyway, I am glad it worked out the way it did,
  17. because (a) I now have a REAL story to tell that is straight out of
  18. one of Mollo's books and (b) we did manage to come back and win the
  19. match by 1 imp:-)

  41. A comment, N is an  excellent player, but at 2am, playing in an
  42. unfamiliar partnership, stranger things have happened (by an AMAZING
  43. coincidence this was on Halloween!!).  I have filled in the dramatis
  44. persona in the deal for you all to enjoy..

  65. Since, this was striaght out of Mollo, I might as well tell you that I
  66. was West whom fate conspired to make Papa, East was Secretary Bird and
  67. South was the Rueful Rabbit who was in yet another unmakable contract.

  69. Well, sitting West holding xxxxx,JTxxx,_,xxx what would you LEAD on
  70. the above auction????

  72. I should perhaps have taken into account the mumbled "oh shit" by
  73. North, but applying Papa-like logic to the problem (a VERY dangerous
  74. thing to do at 2am in the morning) I reasoned the double must be
  75. Lightner, and emerged with a club.
  76.  
  77. At this point the slam is ICE cold. RR (errr. thats Toby Strite -- the
  78. resemblence to RR is restricted to this deal only -- a very fine
  79. player) proceeded to make the contract.

  81. The line is simple -- play 6 rounds of clubs without touching
  82. trumps...
  83.  
  84. The club was covered by the J Q and Ace, a club back to the CK, and
  85. the CT.  Secretary Bird ruffed with the 4 overruffed with the 6, and a
  86. heart to the Ace. Another club, ruffed by Secretary Bird with the the
  87. 5, overruffed by by the 8.  RR then ruffed a heart in dummy, lead
  88. another club, Secretary Bird ruffed with the Jack, over-ruffed by the
  89. Queen.  A last heart, ruffed in dummy and Secretary Bird had to
  90. follow.  Now the 6th club was lead, Secretary Bird ruffed with the
  91. Ace, but RR tossed his losing club and claimed.
