- Mechanical failures DO happen. Landing gear DO fail to extend. Engines
- DO fail. And it's not always the pilot's fault. Pilots are trained (or
- at least are supposed to be trained) to handle such situations. Yes it's
- scary, but so is having a blowout on a front tire when travelling at 65
- mph on a rainy night. My point is this: is it really SO scary that it
- needs to be on the prime time news? I claim that giving it so much
- attention is nothing more than sensationalism. As someone pointed out
- to me in a mail message: remember, the news media is not there to keep
- us informed, it's there to sell advertising time.
