- I have a Craftsman 1/2" drive bar, and use it with enthusiasm on things
- like spring plate bolts. But I would never abuse it on axle shaft nuts -
- that's what they make 3/4" drive tools for...See if you can find a tool
- liquidation place in your town; my 3/4" drive 1 7/16" socket cost me
- 5 bucks - and it's an impact socket, too. A 3/4" drive bar was 20 bucks
- more.
-
- I don't know offhand what the nearest inch equivalent to 46mm is, but
- I'll bet your local VW place would know...
-
- I ended up cutting the axle shaft nuts off my Fastback when a 3/4" drive
- impact wrench failed to budge them, but that's another story. :-)
