- I'm glad it works for you. Will just had his first ear infection (along
- with a cold, of course, which he gave me, of course, which has been just
- awful since he's been waking us up screaming because his nose was blocked,
- of course...yes, I know I'm whining about things you've experienced, too).
- The vaporizer, which we used heavily, may have helped, but it certainly
- wasn't enough.
-
- My conclusion has been--drugs are WONDERFUL! The difference in Will
- before getting a dose of Tylenol and after getting it was remarkable. The
- Pediacare (pseudoephedrine, essentially infant Sudafed) helped a lot, too,
- but it made him more wakeful. Are there other decongestants for infants that
- have less of this stimulant effect?
-
- If I take decongestants during a cold, it prevents a sinus infection. If I
- don't do that, I find that decongestants clear up a bacterial sinus infection
- in me just as quickly as antibiotics do, and without the inevitable yeast
- infections that antibiotics cause. This makes me think that it could be wise
- to give Will decongestants (as well as the vaporizer) as soon as he develops
- a cold, to prevent an ear infection. It works for me, but I hesitate to
- routinely give Will a drug with such an unfortunate side effect (we both
- need him to sleep when he's sick). How do you prevent ear infections in a
- baby?
