- I joined the NAIC a few months ago and "purchased" shares from four
- companies thru the "Low-Cost Investment Plan". NAIC charges $5 for
- each company you wish to buy shares from. The investor is only allowed
- to buy 1 share. The idea is once you own a share you can buy shares
- thru the company's dividend re-investment program. NAIC purchases the
- shares into its account and then instructs the transfer agent to
- transfer a share to your name. As I've found out, this process is VERY
- slow-- its been over 2 months and I've only received confirmation of
- this transfer from one of the four companies I wished to invest in.
-
- Also, the participating companies change (on a monthly basis?): Disney
- was no longer participating.
-
- The verdict is still out, but it doesn't look like I will renew my
- membership next year. Does anyone have any other experiences with
- NAIC(positive or negative).
