- JB>I found an Apple IIe Super Serial Card box that I had been collecting bugs i
- JB>from the local area for the last couple of years. I really had forgatten
- I always keep bugs away from computers <g>
-
- JB>about it till I added a rather nasty creature - the European Wasp - to the
- They are in Sydney as well, but don't seem to have ever got as bad as
- they are down your way. The entomologists at the Oz Museum laugh a bit
- about the "scare": I'll ask them for more details when I get back to
- work.
-
- JB>have to tell you...in the box I found two little creatures that look like
- JB>scorpions. I knew we had them in Australia, something an Aunty once told me
- Yup, we've got lots of them, especially around Canberra, but they never
- seem to get any of those feral politicians!
-
- JB>the pigeon population down lately. Do pseudoscorpions have the little sting
- JB>on the tail? The samples I have do . The tail has 4 smaller segments then
- JB>londer segment the length of two smaller segments onto which the stinger
- Pseudoscorpions are cute little beasts with no stinger. They have huge
- nippers (relatively), and they seem to grab things with them. They are
- rarely mnore than about 2 mm long, and most of that is nippers!
-
- JB>By the way, our springtails down here a deep shade of gray and found
- JB>predominately under leaf litter.
- Ours are mainly white, but they all live in leaf litter, excepting ones
- that live on coral reefs and other oddities like that.
-
- Enough for now, though, the rest of this message has been transferred to
- an environmental report: it follows.
-
- peter slightly less down under
