- A friend points out another issue, something I missed in my original comment:
- the AUI connector is required to supply transceiver power, and an awkwardly
- large amount of it too. If you were feeling sleazy, you might make the
- AUI interface (i.e. the notorious cable) an extra-cost option, put in a
- little footnote saying "may not work on the largest configurations", and
- not bother beefing up the power supply...

- A further thought is that if you provide two interfaces, you have to have
- a way of switching between them, and the extra-cable-for-AUI approach means
- that the 10BaseT-only customers don't have to pay for it.
