  21. Small semantic play: all Sun machines run SunOS, one variant or another.
  22. Even though Sun is changing the OS base from BSD to SVR4, the result is
  23. still called SunOS, in this case 5.0 and on.

  25. It is not SunOS vs. Solaris, it is SunOS 4.x vsersus SunOS 5.x, or
  26. Solaris 1.x versus Solaris 2.x.

  35. Please don't rush them. For my part, I have had my share of rushed
  36. OS releases. SunOS 4.0 was much, much worse than 5.0, even though it
  37. was a smaller step. But the developers were under heavy pressure to
  38. get it done. So they cut edges. I can't blame them.

  40. And Sun learned from that. The SVR4 transition was infinitely
  41. better prepared. Except nobody seems to have listened before
  42. Sun made the transition a fact with the new machines.
