- Hi,
-
- I recently bought a LaCie external Cirrus drive and used a 30
- to 25 pin SCSI cable to connect it to my powerbook 170. Strange
- things start happening on the system. Nine out of ten times I get the
- following errors:
-
- System error occurred.
- "GateKeeper" <-- maybe other control panels and extensions
- bad F-Line instruction
-
- The first extension my system loads is Disinfectant followed by
- GateKeepers. Sometimes the system bomb right after it is switched on,
- that is, before Disinfectant is even loaded. Usually it would
- successfully load several extensions, and then bomb. Sometimes things
- would go fine, the finder successully loaded, and sometime later, the
- Finder would crash and the system bombs. The message given is usually
- bad F-Line instruction.
-
- What's bad F-Line instruction?
-
- What would have caused all these?
-
- (Note: When I disconnect the SCSI cable and everthing seems
- OK. So I suspect it's the problem with the SCSI cable or device.
- That Lacie drive is the only SCSI device in the chain.)
-
- I heard that 25-pin connectors are not properly grounded and
- not really reliable. Could that be the problem?
-
- Any help is deeply appreciated...
-
