  13.     I recently bought a LaCie external Cirrus drive and used a 30
  14. to 25 pin SCSI cable to connect it to my powerbook 170.  Strange
  15. things start happening on the system.  Nine out of ten times I get the
  16. following errors:

  18.         System error occurred.
  19.         "GateKeeper" <-- maybe other control panels and extensions
  20.         bad F-Line instruction
  21.  
  22. The first extension my system loads is Disinfectant followed by
  23. GateKeepers.  Sometimes the system bomb right after it is switched on,
  24. that is, before Disinfectant is even loaded.  Usually it would
  25. successfully load several extensions, and then bomb.  Sometimes things
  26. would go fine, the finder successully loaded, and sometime later, the
  27. Finder would crash and the system bombs.  The message given is usually
  28. bad F-Line instruction.

  30.     What's bad F-Line instruction?

  32.     What would have caused all these?

  34.     (Note:  When I disconnect the SCSI cable and everthing seems
  35. OK.  So I suspect it's the problem with the SCSI cable or device.
  36. That Lacie drive is the only SCSI device in the chain.)

  38.     I heard that 25-pin connectors are not properly grounded and
  39. not really reliable.  Could that be the problem?

  41.     Any help is deeply appreciated...
