  11. I have been borrowing a IIci for about 6 months while my Father has been
  12. travelling.  Soon I must return his machine to him and get my own so I too
  13. have been looking at Macs and wondering which is the best buy for me.

  15. My conculsion is buy the IIci through your university because 1) in the real
  16. world the ci is a faster machine than the vx   2) the ci at SFSU is about
  17. $500.00 less then the vx  3) the ci can run any version of Apple's system
  18. software (the vx must use 7.1!)

  20. If you need a good (and cheap) CD-ROM player, 32,000 colors and a machine that will run System 7  better than any other, get the vx.  The Performa 600 is also a consideration if you don't mind the speed
  21. of an si.

  23. Do some research and buy the monitor and keyboard through mail-order.  The
  24. prices will be lower and you won't be stuck with paying sales tax if the frim
  25. is out of state.
