  12. At one of my clients site, we were trying to generate a symbol
  13. from the Xilinx post routed verilog netlist file so we could
  14. bring the xilinx part back into the system for board level
  15. simulation and were unable to generate a symbol from the
  16. verilog view because of a bug from Cadence. Below is a description
  17. of the problem and the solution:

  19. Problem: When I did a check and save on the read only verilog
  20. textual window, cadence composer asks me if I want to generate
  21. a symbol. I answered yes and it says symbol generated but when
  22. I checked in the browser there was not symbol view. Only the
  23. original functional view. What went wrong? There were no error
  24. or warning messages in the ciw window.

  26. Solution: There is a bug with cds version 4.2.58.5 that makes it
  27. necessary to do a lbCheckOut "900" in order to generate
  28. a functional view off a symbol. Product 900 is skill development.
  29. This is because the procedure ssg requires skill development.

  31. In order to fix this problem type the following in the ciw
  32. window first:

  34. lbCheckOut "900"
  35.  
  36. If you don't have a skill dev license and need the functional
  37. to symbol generator, get the key on loan from you local sales
  38. person until Cadence fixes this bug.

  40. You should not be required to have product 900 checked out in
  41. order to run this option. This is a little silly.
