  30.    A Triple E Senate is the very *essence* of federal democracy.

  35. The US Senate resulted from a compromise at the Second Constitutional
  36. Convention.

  38.    In Australia, the Senate is equal with the House of Commons.

  40.    In a *federal* democracy, their are two *equal* houses, one based on
  41.    equality of the people, and one based on equality of the
  42.    Provinces/States.

  44. Here are two exception I found after 10 minutes of research.

  46. The Upper House of the German Federal Republic does not represent
  47. every state equally (smaller states and city-states having fewer
  48. states).  The Upper House of the Austrian Federal Republic is
  49. rep-by-pop (its members being elected by the unicameral provincial
  50. legislatures).

  52.    When Central Canadians say the Triple E Senate is *not* democratic and
  53.    *not* federal, what they really mean is they are greedy assholes who
  54.    have no intention of ever giving any real power to the other provinces.

  56. I have no problem with a EEE Senate, so long as it can be introduced
  57. without increasing the anti-federalist feeling amongst Quebecers.
