- This weekend while driving back to LA from San Luis Obispo
- I decided to take one of the "forgotten" roads of CA - Hwy 166.
- It goes from Santa Maria to I-5.
-
- The good news is that its quite pretty (well, at least in its
- own way with barren rolling hills and some plains w/ small mtns) and
- there was hardly any traffic and it's fairly fun to drive on.
-
- I did however see 2 CHPs - vs. my expectation of zero, as this
- was supposed to be a bit of a speed test for the Z. Also,
- there was hardly ever a stretch where I felt comfortable
- punching it (into the triple digit range) - going from Maricopa
- to I-5 it is straight and flat but it's kinda bumpy and between
- Santa Maria and Maricopa there are no nice long straight stretches.
-
- More good news for me is that once again I keep my clean record.
-
- Hey, this is just a FYI kind of a posting...Oh, but hey, while
- I'm at it, those of you who go on speed runs, which deserted
- highways do you prefer?
