- Not unless you're a homosexual, or some other type of "sexual deviant"
- (they have a roadside test). Oh sorry, that's Colorado. Oregon will
- just have to try again next time. Sorry, couldn't resist. This whole
- wave of puritan intolerance has me a bit on edge.
-
- To answer your question, they weren't banned before this last
- election. I don't believe they passed anything banning them recently.
-
- On my last trip up to Washington State, I saw fewer cops in Oregon and
- Washington combined, than in 50 miles of interstate in any area of
- California. When they do use radar, they tend to use it in long open
- stretches of road, usually hiding behind an overpass (or an American
- Flag, ooops, there I go again!). Pretty easy to detect. My
- experience has been that Washington does a lot more radar than Oregon,
- so you generally are pretty safe whipping through there. Oh, and
- people tend to stay to the right when you get north of Sacramento, so
- you'll have to get used to not having to flash your lights, whip over
- to pass some moron from the right, whip back and give them the finger.
- It's not even a required maneuvior on the standard Oregon driving
- test. Imagine that.
-
- Oh, and don't tell them your from California. All the Californians
- who left here 20 years ago to populate Oregon get real irritated when
- we come up to visit.
