  21.              FIRST WINDOWS NT APPLICATIONS DEMONSTRATED
  22.                   ON DIGITAL'S ALPHA AXP COMPUTERS

  25. LAS VEGAS, NV -- November 16, 1992 -- Visitors to COMDEX/Fall 
  26. witnessed demonstrations of the first applications running on 
  27. Digital Equipment Corporation's Alpha AXP personal computers with 
  28. the Microsoft Windows NT operating system. More than a dozen 
  29. application providers demonstrated their software in the Digital and 
  30. Microsoft booths.

  32.      "We are pleased that application providers are able to convert 
  33. their software to our Alpha AXP systems so quickly," said Jesse 
  34. Lipcon, vice-president of Digital's entry systems business group. 
  35. "That these applications were up-and-running so quickly--several in 
  36. just a few hours--is a tribute to the consistency of the Windows NT 
  37. operating system across platforms."

  39.      "Microsoft and Digital are making great progress in moving 
  40. Windows NT to the Alpha AXP platform," said Paul Maritz, senior vice 
  41. president of Microsoft's systems division. "The vendors 
  42. demonstrating their Windows NT applications today on Alpha AXP PCs 
  43. completed their ports in less than three days. Digital is taking a 
  44. leadership role in defining the next generation of PCs. Because of
  45. its performance, we expect the Alpha AXP personal computer to be a 
  46. key platform for Windows NT."

  48.      The Alpha AXP system demonstrated by each of the software 
  49. providers is an Advanced Technology Display of the first member of 
  50. Digital's family of Alpha AXP personal computer systems, which 
  51. incorporates Digital's 21064 microprocessor. The Guinness Book of 
  52. World Records has ranked the microprocessor as the "world's 
  53. fastest," and it is the fastest single-processor machine capable of 
  54. running Windows NT software.
