- We do have a courtesy hold shelf. We hold items for 24 hours if the
- patron has forgotten their ID card, has not yet gotten their ID card,
- is at their checkout limit, or has overdue items and/or unpaid fines.
- If a patron arrives at the desk too late to check out books, we will
- hold items as well.
-
- We will accept any materials from the general circulating collection,
- but we will not hold reference material, microforms, periodicals, or
- reserve materials.
-
- The main problem we have in this area is that some patrons will check out
- several items an
- out several items and ask us to hold some of them until later because
- they do not want to carry all of the items at once. We tell them that
- we do not, under any circumstances, hold items at the desk for patrons
- after they have been checked out.
-
- We do not issue temporary borrowing cards to students who have forgotten
- their ID cards. If they have lost their cards, they must go to the
- finance office and get a new one (there is a $5.00 fee).
