- Depends. Typically on a "normal" diet for a slightly overweight person,
- weight loss more than 2lbs a week is often water weight (glycogen stores
- are carbs stored in water--when the body deficits calories, the glycogen
- gets used and the water excreted--this comes back when you go off the diet).

- I lost 4 a week (average) for 20+weeks on a medically-supervised fast.
- But if I had done this unsupervised, it would definitely have been unsafe.
- Note that the generally-accepted wisdom is that fast weight loss is temporary
