- I discovered plans made the night before never factor in how tired
- you really are, so both me and Pete Stoller sleep through the breakfast we
- planned.
- Early on I hit the Dealer's room, buy some gifts for my nephew and
- cruise the furry table real quick, the only one there I have not seen yet
- this con is Steven Martin, whom I have heard more than enough stories about
- that meeting him in person did not refute. I find Speet again and we go
- looking for somone while most of hte other furries sit in on a panel about
- producing your own comic. Since Vicky (Xanadu) Wyman could not make it this
- year--Jim Groat fills in for her. Afterwards everyone decides to do lunch
- What happened is that everyone decided to go to a White Castle some
- distance away from the con, half in a caravan, half on their own. I ride
- with Speet in his 1979 Chevy Blazer along with Dusty Rhodes--a rather nice
- guy and decent artist with the looks of a biker, made me a bit nervous around
- him. We were part of the caravan that made it in
- When we first arrived, there were maybe 10 of us and 8 normal
- cusomters, but not much later we *filled* the White Castle with about 15 to
- 20 of us, we were the only people in there and I have to give the employees
- there a lot of credit for putting up with us. I think the funniest thing was
- Jim Groat and Rich Chandler keeping people out of Jimmy Chin's seat. There
- were some photos taken there and we all headed out when we were done.
- On the ride home Jim Groat also came back in Speet's Blazer. The
- ride back was fun becuase Dusty threw Ice cubes out the back window at
- another car in the caravan--scoring two direct hits. In the hight of this
- fun we missed out exit and wound up driving through Philadelphia to get back
- to the con.
- Once back, me and Speet sat down to hash out some details on an
- upcoming Furrlough story, from the roughs it seems to look really nice. Pete
- left for the furry party about 8 and I stayed in his room for another hour
- watching TV.
- The Saturday night furry party was interestng to say the least, on
- the door someone drew a skunk with a clothespin on his nose with a "No"
- sybol around him and the caption "Please Bathe First" (too bad it didn't
- work). While at the party I met David Reiss (and got a sketch), Eric
- Schwartz (and got a sketch), Taral Wayne (sorry, no sketch from him) and Juan
- Alfonso. Juan was interesting becuase he looked a lot like my father, and he
- told me interesting stories about growing up in Cuba while we walked between
- hotels, and yes, I got a sketch from him too.
- Since there were so many art books being passed around (and now not
- even the high-qualty bound books but just the thick pads and binders. I
- myself bought a tablet of 40 sheets of 2-ply Bristol board. Not only can I
- pass out single sheets, but 4 will fit nicely in the 22 X 28 poster frames I
- have at home. I would up with a few nice sketches that will be hanging in my
- bedroom by the end of the week.
