  14. This survey of 1988 journals (Notices AMS, vol 36, no. 9, page 1193--1198)
  15. has some interesting items.  Prices range from 1.2 cents per thousand
  16. characters (for the J. of the Amer. Statistical Assoc.) up to
  17. 93.5 cents per thousand characters (for Applicable Analysis).  On the
  18. other hand the J. of the Amer. Statistical Assoc. had the
  19. highest page charges of any journal ($65), while Applicable Analysis
  20. had no page charges.  And the J. of the Amer. Statistical Assoc.
  21. had the second-highest circulation (18,500), while Applicable Analysis
  22. presumably had a very small circulation ("not available" from the publisher,
  23. perhaps comparable to Semigroup Forum with a circulation of 500).
