  26. At the drag strip, consistency is what wins races... not power.  Automatic
  27. transmissions tend to act in a predictable manner, delivering quick, powerful
  28. shifts (with no adverse effect on wear!!!) while very rarely missing
  29. gears!  :-)  I do know some racers who swear by their manual transmissions:
  30. "I'd rather eat worms than drive an automatic" -Dixie Deuce , and can drive
  31. and launch them consistently.  If you're good... what the hell?
