  12. Got the lastest J.C. Whitney catalog today. They have a "computer chip
  13. switching system" for 84-91 GM cars. They handle 2 or 4 chips and use a
  14. keylock to switch between them. But what's really interesting is that
  15. they also sell some custom proms for use with this item:

  17.     Security Chip. Prevents computer-controlled fuel injector and fuel
  18.     pump from operating so engine won't start (vehicles with TPI
  19.     injection will start & idle only). Vehicle will not run even if
  20.     data cable is cut or disconnected. Vehicle will run only when you
  21.     select another chip with your key. This chip can be activated only
  22.     when ignition is off -- prevents accidental shutoff when vehicle is
  23.     moving.

  25.     Valet Chip. Limits speed to 10 MPH. Prevents parking lot attendants
  26.     from driving your car like a racer.

  28. The switch boxes are $200-300 and the chips are $75.

  30. Next thing you know, they'll be offering:

  32.     Dealer Chip. Car runs normally for 3 months/3000 miles and then
  33.     runs rough, stalls, surges, backfires, etc. forcing customer to
  34.     bring vehicle back to dealer for "servicing."
