  21.  The Australian division of the environmental organization
  22. Greenpeace has dismissed suggestions that Sydney's bid to host the
  23. Olympics in the year 2000 could be affected by the hole in the
  24. southern hemisphere's ozone layer. The response came after a German
  25. journalists questioned Australia's Olympic officials in Barcelona
  26. about the dangers to athletes of ultra-violet radiation.

  28. Greenpeace said the ozone layer hole is becoming increasingly
  29. severe in the Melbourne hemisphere and will affect the whole
  30. planet.

  32. A Greenpeace spokesperson noted that Berlin was competing against
  33. Sydney to host the Olympics and expressed regret that the serious
  34. environmental issue had been trivialized for political reasons. (R.
