-
- A project of the Environment Now, "Sierra Now" hopes to
- bring attention to the inadequate efforts being made to protect
- one of America's largest and most ecologically diverse mountain
- chains. The Sierra Nevada, for all its majestic beauty is
- a region in distress, suffering from abusive timber harvest
- practices, massive water diversion, recreational overuse,
- and other problems. Sierra Now's mission is to unite the
- conservation community in an effort to develop and implement
- an economically and ecologically sound campaign for the
- preservation and rehabilitation of this magnificent mountain
- range.
