- I met big problems with xdm under Dell Unix SVr4. I use HDS
- terminals and all the clients are located in the Dell box. The only
- way to make xdm works under Dell Unix seems to run xdm with the
- Xservers file setup. And NEVER swith the terminals off !
-
- The X manuals sold by O'reilly tell about a known bug in xdm in X11r4.
- It seems that this bug is in the xdm version of Dell Unix. So I switch
- from xdm to a telnet login, setting up the DISPLAY variable to
- my_term_name:0, export DISPLAY and run mwm(1) (for instance). since, I
- got the source of xdm(1) but I had no time to compile it and try it.
-
- I have also another problem with the Dell : it seems that I can't open
- more than 15 windows (15 clients on the Dell) with all the terminals
- linked to the Dell. For instance I can open 10 windows on one terminal
- and 5 on another. The total is always 15 ! I looked at the max number
- of pts, tcp connection, etc, with no luck. But if I use a local server
- on the Dell (X386 for instance), I can fill my screens with windows
- without any problems. Any hint ?
