  16. Twice now I've seen the following error reported to the console:

  18.     getty: ioctl(TCGETS): Operation not supported on socket
  19.  
  20. One of the two times it was preceded by:
  21.  
  22.     getty: ioctl(TCGETS): Bad file number
  23.  
  24. The getty process was running on ttyd0 which is my dial-in/dial-out port
  25. of a Sun-3/50 running SunOS 4.1.1_U1.
  26.  
  27. Why might I be getting this error sporadicly and what might I do to cure it?
