- Environment: SunOS 4.1.2, OpenWindows 3.0, SPARCstation IPC
- I have a user here who starts up 5 xterms from his .openwin-init
- file, each executing "rlogin" to a different machine. (Well, three
- of them are rlogin-ing to his own machine, which ain't the most
- efficient way to run things, but that's not the point...)
-
- Sporadically, one of these xterms will lose the size of the window.
- "stty size" will return "0 0" instead of "25 80" or whatever the
- size is. Re-sizing the window has no effect on this value.
- "stty -a" also, of course, shows "rows 0 columns 0".
-
- Some of our software depends on being able to read the correct size
- of the window.
-
- Sun tech support says that this problem has never been reported
- before, and (this seems weird to me) if you have a problem that
- you can't reliably reproduce, there's not even a way to put it on
- record as being a potential problem. (I could see that you might
- not want to file a full bug report on something that can't be
- reliably reproduced, but it seems to me this should at least go
- into a database somewhere, so they can tell if a lot of people
- report it. But I digress...)
-
- Questions:
-
- 1. Has anyone seen this sort of thing before?
-
- 2. Does anyone have a clue about what might cause this?
-
- Thanks for any insights,
