- I find that strange, I've had one of my external drives rebuild the desktop
- automatically after using it on a system 6 machine. The way that system 7
- works, is that it actually uses 2 different invisible folders for the desktop.
- That's why the folders 'Desktop DF' and 'Desktop DB' appear when working
- under 6.0.X. (I'm not sure if those are the right names for the folders, but
- it's something like that.) It also does the same thing with the trash.
- Apple took an entirely (sp) new approach to these items with system 7.0.
- Things like that are the reason why it rebuilds. The archaic system 6.0.X
- desktop just doesn't function the same, so system 7.0 fixes it.
