  18. I've successfully formatted a DEC RZ23 using LaCIE's SilverLining
  19. software. Today we use this drive on a Macintosh SE running AppleShare 
  20. server SW without any problems. The RZ23 is not a fast drive, however.

  26. DEC's SCSI drives normally do not spin up at power-on. This makes a
  27. Macintosh freak out completely. To change this behaviour on a RZ23 you
  28. have to send a SCSI command (MODE_SELECT) to the drive. It is not 
  29. possible to configure this on a RZ23 using jumpers or swithces.

  40. I'll mail you the VMS Macro source code for a program that will fix the
  41. spin-up problem. This program will _only_ work on a VAX machine with a
  42. SCSI controller that uses the VMS GKDRIVER (such as the uVAX 3100).
