- CG>I would like more information (opinions, too) on these machines or any
- CG>suggestions anyone might have. Specifically, if someone has one of these
- CG>or one close I would like to know: how quiet it is-I need to use it in a
- CG>courtroom--silent, how good is the keyboard (layout and feel), and any
- CG>general gripes about any of the machines or companies.

- CG>Dell 320N+, Grid 1660, Epson NB-SL/25, Micro Express NB2500.
-
- I currently am using a DELL 320N+, with 60 mb drive ( with STACKER )
- , math copro,4 mb ram. I use this notebook for assorted office
- duties ( memos, spreadsheets, mail, recreation (OOPS) ) using
- mostly windows programs. I also purchased a seperate VGA monitor
- and full sized keyboard as well as a ZIRCOM pocket LAN adapter.
- When I am using it in the office, it is difficult to tell the
- difference between the notebook and the other desktops in office. The
- beauty in this machine however, is the ability at the end of the day to
- slip it into a carry case, and take it home to do further work etc....
-
- Here's my product review.
-
- I have found the keyboard to be no problem for keyboarding with
- even if the keys are scrunched together a bit. The display is adaquate for
- almost everything that I do with it. There has been one problem that seems
- to plague this model. The internal battery connectors were (are ?) a very
- poor design. This causes the machine to blink to standby mode occasionally
- when it is jarred slightly, ( or when my wife is keyboarding, she likes
- to make SURE she pushed the key... ). Dell has replaced ( yes, replaced)
- the computer 3 times so far for the same problem, and I currently have two
- of them on my kitchen table, one has to go back after I transfer files.
- The only thing that keeps me from shouting about this problem is the
- treatment that DELL service gives me. When I have a problem I just call
- their 800 munber, and they send a replacement via FEDEX, and I get a new
- one the next day. They also send a return slip for FEDEX for the old one.
- It's hard to gripe at that kind of service. They also include a software
- package called LIFELINE and a cable that transfers disk contents in about
- 20 mins unattended.
- All in all it's a great machine, and I am the envy of the office,
- cause I got the only one !
-
- Good luck on your purchase !
