- Uh, BobM, did we have a bad day today? If you take a bit of time to study
- and research before spouting off, I think you'll find that today's generation
- of airliners are much more fuel efficient and less polluting than generally
- available alternative travel means. Noting the geography of where you post
- from, maybe you'd rather that all flights from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia be
- prohibited so that those hundreds or thousands of folks who need to get there
- each day can all take their own cars and drive instead?? Yeah, that'd be
- much more efficient and less polluting! Or do you think instead that all of
- the business and personal travelers just shouldn't ever have to _really_ go
- anywhere??
-
- Look up some stats sometime about what percentage of the air pollution in
- the U.S. can be attributed to aircraft (commercial and private) as opposed
- to automobiles and industrial sources. You might be a bit surprised at how
- low the number is!!
-
- (To those on comp.sys.laptops - sorry about this diversion. I guess it just
- really pisses me off when someone makes gratuitous, uninformed attacks -
- especially in response to someone who was posting in honest environmental
- concern about a bad use of petrochemicals.)
